Éclatant Gem & Jewelry Valuation and Kelly M. Egan are committed to protecting client confidentiality. All personal information is handled in confidence and in accordance with professional ethics standards. Client information is used solely to provide requested services and is not shared with third parties except with client authorization or as required by law. We take appropriate measures to safeguard client privacy at all times.
Our policy with respect to personal information about our clients is as follows:
- We limit employee and agent access to information only to those who have a business or professional reason to know, and only to non-affiliated parties as required by law.
- Computer firewall and security software are updated as recommended by the manufacturer. The physical office is locked and alarmed during non-business hours.
- Appraisal and other reports are stored for a period of at least five (5) years. We will not knowingly provide access without the client’s consent unless compelled to do so.
- The categories of non-public personal information that we collect from a client depend upon the scope of the client's appraisal engagement. This includes information about personal property assets, information about tax identification numbers, and other non-public information necessary. Additionally, it may include information about transactions between clients and third parties, and information from third party sources.
- Unaffiliated third parties that require access to our clients' personal information, such as Federal and State tax regulators may only review company records as permitted under the law.
- We do not provide client information to mailing list vendors or solicitors for any reason whatsoever. However, we may retain that information for future use to notify clients that updated appraisals may be appropriate.
- Personal information will be maintained during the time a client is a client of the company and for at least the five years thereafter that such records are required to be maintained by USPAP. After this required period of record retention, all such information will be destroyed in a manner consistent with confidentiality, including shredding physical documents and erasing and overwriting digital records.
